Jon Michael Baker, Sr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Jon M. Baker is the founder, Chairman & CEO of International Planning Group (IPG), a global life insurance broker focused on meeting the wealth planning needs of high net worth individuals. Since 2005, Mr. Baker has overseen IPG’s growth in distribution revenues by 400% to an estimated $60 million for 2011, while expanding the number of IPG’s producing referral partners from 3 to 15. Total in force coverage during this period increased from $5 billion to $13 billion with persistency in excess of 97%.

Mr. Baker has nearly 40 years experience in generational wealth transfer planning for US and international families and their family-owned businesses worldwide. Additionally, Mr. Baker has assisted US multinational corporations in structuring and funding supplemental executive compensation and benefit methodologies for both domestic and international executives. Mr. Baker commonly utilizes innovative trust and corporate structures, combined with a mix of highly competitive and cost-effective domestic and offshore life insurance products, to achieve clients’ planning objectives.

In 1978, Mr. Baker established one of the earliest offshore life insurance companies in Bermuda to offer US tax compliant life insurance products to US residents. Since then, Mr. Baker’s companies have been retained to assist Confederation Life, New York Life Worldwide, Citicorp Insurance Group, Amedex Insurance Company and Fidelity Insurance Company in the formation of their offshore life insurance companies. Mr. Baker, through affiliated business entities, provides these and other insurers with ongoing services to establish and maintain compliant solicitation processes, obtain reinsurance capacity, underwrite cases, efficiently administer policies, report business results, and develop illustration and administration software. Mr. Baker has also facilitated insurers in the acquisition of policy blocks, such as Citicorp International Insurance Company’s acquisition of Confederation Life’s Bermuda Division’s policies.

Mr. Baker has been a speaker at international symposia, delivering presentations on establishing offshore structures, employment companies and personal holding companies, designing systematic executive compensation and benefit methodologies, funding supplemental executive benefits with US COLI (corporate owned life insurance) and non-US COLI products, forming offshore life insurance companies, and building international life insurance sales and distribution.

A Georgetown University graduate, Mr. Baker is a former member of Georgetown University’s Board of Regents, as well as the recipient of Georgetown’s highest honor, the John Carroll Award. Mr. Baker has demonstrated his commitment to education and the performing arts as Chairman of the Leadership Council of the Center for Business and Government at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, as a Trustee of Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, The Rivers School, and The Wang Center for the Performing Arts, as founder of The American Foundation for The Royal Academy of Music in London and as General Partner of Winston Productions, the production company for The Buddy Holly Story (1978).
